The following photos may be of more significance to previous visitors to the park as they are able to put the height into perspective.  For water to reach the top of the bank it needs to be at a height of over 13m.  All these photos are over 13 meters with the exception of the photo taken when it was time to relax.

relax - click to enlargeThe Daly River Mango Farm has been flooded 3 times in recent years.  The flood of 1998 was 16.5m,  2000 was 14.5m and 2002 was 13.8.  Each of these floods have inundated buildings and caused extensive damage.  The above photos are from the more recent 2002 flood and taken after the water began to recede.  The are in order:  front entrance, road within the farm, light pole at the pontoons, boats under the mango trees, bistro from the water, river from the beer garden, damage in front of camp kitchen and last the time to relax photo as the water recedes and fish are a plenty!

drytree.jpg (65567 bytes)When you visit the Daly River Mango Farm, on the road in, you will find a tree which is called the Flood Tree and marked each year with the river height.  The  photos are of that tree both in the dry and the wet.  And when the river drops crossing the causeway can be exciting!!
